IRBM is headquartered in Pomezia (Rome), Italy and provides integrated or stand-alone, pre-clinical laboratory services across the entire drug discovery process, ranging from target validation to clinical candidate molecule selection. The company operates through collaborations with a number of Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology organizations, as well as research institutes and non-profit foundations working in a range of target modalities and therapeutic indications. IRBM is committed to the discovery and development of novel agents that can help fight and cure diseases.

Job Description

We have several openings for talented and highly motivated US based Business Development Managers to join the Company and support our expanding business and scientific efforts. The selected candidates will be responsible for developing and fostering relationships with key decision-makers at Biotech, Pharmaceutical companies and Not-For-Profit Organizations to secure business opportunities for the Company.

The successful candidates will be self-motivated, success-driven individuals who are well networked within the life science industry on the US west coast or US east coast. The candidates will be able to work remotely and independently, with dedicated support from the IRBM team, while building strong relationships and a pipeline of opportunities throughout the geographical areas in key industry life sciences hubs such as San Francisco, San Diego and Boston/Cambridge.

A collaborative attitude and ability to multitask are essential for these positions, as well as the ability to work under pressure and meet corporate deadlines. Candidates with prior experience in the field of drug discovery will be given priority. While experience in the above skills is preferred, applicants with related skills set are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Identify new business opportunities and drive the sales process through to closure within the assigned geography
Conduct regular customer visits to strengthen relationships, assess satisfaction and increase sales
Achieve designated yearly sales goals within the assigned geography
Establish in-depth knowledge of IRBM services and platforms
Handle customer queries in a timely and efficient manner
Attend conferences and trade shows as required

Leadership competencies/skills

Proven track record of high-value deals in the drug discovery arena
Willingness to travel extensively within the territory
Positive attitude, personal drive and work ethic
Ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team
Excellent communication and presentation skills (both written and oral)
Excellent time management and organizational skills


Basic qualification:

  • BSc in chemistry, pharmacology, biology or related field required
  • Working knowledge of drug discovery
  • 5+ years of business development/sales experience in life sciences/biotech/pharma

Preferred qualifications:

  • MSc or PhD in chemistry, pharmacology, biology or related field and/or MBA
