Job Description

We have an opening for a talented and highly motivated Jr. Research Scientist to join our High Throughput Biology and Screening Unit focusing on the discovery and development of novel therapeutic agents for the treatment of different viral diseases. The successful candidate will be a well-organized and highly productive bench scientist: she/he will be able to thrive in a fast-paced, matrix-structured environment and will have a strong technical expertise in molecular biology and virology. The candidate will be involved in the design, execution, and data interpretation of experiments, and will interface regularly with different internal teams and with our collaboration partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal supervision, apply comprehensive molecular and cellular biology techniques, including but not limited to genome editing, to generate cell lines for discovery and pipeline projects.
  • Under minimal supervision, develop cell based & biochemical assays to identify and characterize therapeutic agents against different viral diseases.
  • Participate in experimental planning by applying critical thinking, experience and scientific knowledge to the data analysis
  • Accurately record, analyze and present data in the context of multidisciplinary project teams
  • Establish productive working relationships with all team members
  • Maintain high standards of laboratory safety, comply with all safety requirements according to Italian laws.

Leadership competencies/skills:

  • Detailed knowledge and proven skills in molecular biology techniques including but not limited to construct design, cloning, genome editing, RT-PCR, qPCR and nucleic acid analysis
  • Experience in cell culture, cell transformation and cellular event analysis.
  • Proven background in molecular virology would be preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Outstanding organizational skills; capability to multi-task
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English is mandatory.


MSc in Biology, Biochemistry or related fields with at least 2+ years of relevant experience in academic or industrial environment.
