NMR

Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is a highly powerful tool in Structural Biology, thanks to its ability to conduct comprehensive structural and dynamic studies spanning small molecules to larger macromolecules like peptides and proteins/protein complexes. Our Structural Biology NMR group specializes in crafting and implementing diverse NMR protocols to support drug discovery projects through a variety of methods.

MASS SPECTROMETRY (MS)

Our integrated laboratories include a variety of mass spectrometry instruments. We use liquid chromatography-high-resolution OrbiTrap mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) to analyse both biochemical and cell-based assays. This helps us to measure enzyme activity and covalent binding in biochemical assays and to quantify changes in cellular metabolites and validate the mechanism of action of a compound within a metabolic pathway.

SURFACE PLASMON RESONANCE (SPR)

SPR technology offers fast and real time analysis of the kinetic and thermodynamic binding parameters of small molecules, peptides, antibodies and other protein-protein interactions in small samples. This provides crucial information for target characterization, hit identification, lead optimization and characterization of the binding properties of a molecule to its target.

BIO-LAYER INTERFEROMETRY (BLI)

BLI based biosensor technology provides a powerful tool to measure molecular interactions in real time. Its flexibility allows us to detect, quantify and determine the kinetics of biomolecular interactions in a range of complex biological matrixes. At IRBM, we use BLI for high-throughput antibody and small molecule screening. Crucial to any antibody development campaign, it provides fast and reliable hit screening based on affinity, and hit clustering based on epitope binning.
