What IRBM offers

The science you would be doing

IRBM began as Merck Research Labs and runs programs across the full discovery sequence: target identification, hit finding, lead optimization, preclinical candidate.

Working across that sequence rather than at one point of it is how scientists here build judgment quickly. You learn what makes a series survive, and how it fails, on programs you have worked on yourself.

Where is IRBM based?

IRBM works from a single research site at Via Pontina km 30,600, south of Greater Rome, Italy.

What kinds of roles does IRBM hire for?

Roles fall into three groups. Scientific departments cover medicinal chemistry, peptide chemistry and antibody discovery; biology, biochemistry and screening; structural biology; DMPK and experimental pharmacology; and in vivo pharmacology. Corporate staff covers finance, human resources, marketing, engineering and utilities. Business development covers commercial and partnership roles, including positions covering territories outside Italy.

Is IRBM certified on gender equality and inclusion?

Yes. IRBM was certified in 2023 to UNI/PdR 125:2022, the Italian reference practice for gender equality, and to ISO 30415, the first ISO standard for diversity and inclusion in the workplace. As of 15 July 2026, women hold 61% of all roles, 67% of scientific roles and 65% of management roles.
